Dorper ram lambs and yearling rams for sale
Dorpers are a very meaty, hardy hair breed of sheep that originated in South Africa and were imported into the US in the mid-90's. They have quickly gained in popularity due to their hardiness, ability to grow rapidly on a low quality forage and grass based diet and their ability to shed their wool coat in the spring and not require shearing. They have excellent carcasses and are generally marketed at 110 to 120#. Our ewes and lambs are raised on a year round grass diet and do not need any supplemental grain during the year. The breed will forage on browse and various weeds. The ewes are very prolific and generally have twins or triplets.
By cross breeding to a Dorper ram you can produce a ewe within three generations that does not need to be sheared. The sheep will have a ridge of wool down their backs in the winter which is shed naturally in the spring. Generally the first cross lambs will not be discounted on pelt quality.
We have registered purebred, percentage and commercial yearling and ram lambs available at this time starting at $200.
